About Glam Squad Nation

As a proud product and a 20+ year administrative career with the NYC K-12 Public Schools and Adult Education programs, I know the value of quality education. I was born and raised in the East New York Section of Brooklyn, NY, and am of Puerto Rican descent.  East New York is an impoverished area with high crime and low graduation rates.

With a bachelor’s in business administration and a master’s in education, it was a big accomplishment for me to return to my alma mater middle school as a sixth-grade Math and English language arts teacher. I wanted to show my students that they can accomplish any goals they set successfully. These meaningful and enriching teaching experiences led to several career opportunities outside the classroom. Throughout my career, I held such additional titles as math and literacy coach, character education facilitator, grant writer, mentor, and school administrator.

I have facilitated countless professional development opportunities for teachers, school leaders, and students. I also mentored several teachers to aspire and successfully received school administrative and Principalship positions. Last year, I was a guest speaker at a middle school women's history month event in Charlotte, North Carolina where I spoke on the importance of youth empowerment and career opportunities. Recently, I have been interviewed on several podcasts as well as developing and hosting a Youtube segment where we interview successful women of various careers and businesses.

With a successful educational and business career, I felt that I could use my experience to do more to help others on a larger scale. I wanted to combine my

continued passion for teaching and mentoring educators as well as students while building school climate and community relations. All of this led to the inception of the GLAM SQUAD Youth Enrichment Program. Girls Leadership and Mentorship (G.L.A.M.) SQUAD is a program that encourages and empowers our young ladies to explore and celebrate their individuality through engaging cooperative learning lessons on self-identity, self-discovery, and self-love in their entrepreneurial abilities. Our goal is to enlighten and inspire young girls to reach their full potential as they seek to achieve their educational, and career aspirations.  Through the GLAM SQUAD program, we can assist in preparing our GLAMs to be confident, creative, and compassionate leaders of tomorrow.

Mission

Girls Leadership and Mentorship (G.L.A.M.) SQUAD strives to encourage and empower young ladies by creating opportunities for them to explore and celebrate their collective and individual strengths.  Together, they will engage in collaborative learning experiences designed to promote self-identity, self-discovery, and self-love through rich discussions, project-based activities, and community service projects.  Through these learning experiences, along with the support of our mentors, GLAMS will become confident, creative, and compassionate leaders of tomorrow.

Vision

Our vision, at GLAM SQUAD, is to develop a learning environment where young ladies find their collective strength with others; discover their true inner voices; bring a spark of creativity in their chosen fields of interest, and become shining stars in their entrepreneurial and future endeavors
